The Church of San Francisco de Asís
The church of San Francisco dates from the beginning of the 16th century, but at the end of the 18th century it was almost completely demolished and rebuilt, so it currently has baroque and, above all, neoclassical elements.
It has curious details such as the bell tower that is an extension of the central part of the façade or the decoration of the stone cord that surrounds the main door. It is a temple with three naves, the central one is wider and higher and it extends into an apse towards the presbytery. The lateral naves have a first floor gallery, to ensure that more faithful have a place. The complex rests on cubic pillars and semicircular arches. It has simple vaults, with lunettes. It also has valuable religious imagery, with the oldest pieces in Tarifa, such as the Crucificado Santo Cristo del Consuelo, from the 16th century.
